DJ DeWees

President

Hitting | Pitching Instructor

DJ was an All State player in Football and Baseball out of Clarksville High School. He played in the North/South game after graduating. DJ continued his sports career by playing Football at the University of Evansville.

DJ is the current president of the Southern Indiana Rawlings Tigers and coaches one of their High School teams. He is a certified Speed and Agility Coach by the CSAC and the NSPA. DJ has been trained by the practices of Ron Wolforth Texas Baseball Ranch, Mike Ryan Hitting, and has been co-developer of the Velocity programs taught here at the Lumber Yard.

DJ resides in Sellersburg with his wife Cheryl, sons Dane and Deacon, daughters Danica and Demi.

Jake Scott

Facility Manager

Jake Scott is from Huntington Beach, CA where he played high school baseball at Edison high school. As a senior Scott was named offensive player of the year, an all-sunset league selection, and selected to play in the Sunset vs. Trinity league All-Star game.

Scott began his college career at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA playing under legendary head coach John Altobelli. As a freshman Scott batted .326 with a .413 on-base percentage and earned second-team All-Orange Empire Conference honors. As a sophomore Scott received a scholarship to play Division 1 baseball at Houston Baptist University and was selected to play in the 2016 Southern California Fall Sophomore Showcase.

At Houston Baptist Scott appeared in 39 games batting .276 with four home runs and a .460 slugging percentage. Scott came up big for the Huskies in the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament batting .417 including notable moments with a go-ahead home run to eliminate top-seeded Sam Houston State followed later that evening by going 4-for-6, driving in a run and scoring a run in a 4-3, 12-inning victory over the University of New Orleans. Scott was named to the Southland Conference Commissioners Honor Roll as well as inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma national honor society for collegiate-student athletes.

Scott finished his college career playing at Indiana University Southeast under head coach Ben Reel. In the 2020-2021 seasons Scott batted .326 with 20 doubles, 8 home runs, and 73 RBI’s. In the 2021 season Scott played a key role in helping the Grenadiers reach the NAIA World Series for the first time in program history.

Joe Nattermann

Hitting | Pitching | Fielding

Joe Nattermann starts his fourth season in his return to the IU Southeast Grenadiers. While in his first stint (2006-2011), he served in roles as both the pitching and hitting coaches for three years while also serving as recruiting coordinator for four years. He was a part of four conference championships at IU Southeast from 2008-2011 and the last two regular-season titles in 2018 and 2019.

Before coming to IU Southeast, Nattermann was an assistant coach at Jeffersonville(IN) High School, under the legendary and IHSBCA Hall of Famer Al Rabe. His tenure there included a 2004 Indiana State Final Four appearance as the only unranked team.

In 2012, he served as Recruiting Coordinator and First Base Coach at Spalding University and helped guide them to a 33-14 record in their first season as an NCAA Division III institution.

In 2014, Nattermann was a Varsity Assistant at Charlestown(IN) High School. While there, the Pirates went 21-7 and won their first Mid-South Conference Championship.
